Sponsoring clubs

Each member of the team has been supported and sponsored in being selected for the Group Study Exchange by a Devon Rotary club. The sponsoring clubs are the Rotary Club of Tiverton (Sally), the Rotary Club of Ivybridge (Ed), the Rotary Club of Exeter Enterprise (Lucy) and the Rotary Club of Okehampton (Sulina).

The team’s sincere thanks go to the Rotary District of Devon for this unique opportunity and to all the sponsoring clubs for their ongoing support.

Individual input

The team have been lucky enough to benefit from contact with a number of individuals who are helping them to prepare for the exchange.

The team have been attended fortnightly language lessons since January 2013 with Joohee. Joohee is a student at Exeter University and originally comes from South Korea. Joohee has patiently spent time educating the team not only in the language but also in details about the culture, etiquette and history of the country. The team are gradually learning to speak and read Korean under Joohee’s watchful eye.

Diana and Geoff Fitch spent some time with the team during a planning day on 20 January 2013. Diana and Geoff are Rotarians who spent several years living in Seoul in South Korea. The team benefited greatly from speaking with Diana and Geoff, who aided their understanding of the culture and what to expect.

The team’s thanks go to Joohee, Diana and Geoff for their time and guidance during the preparation for the trip.

The trip is funded by Rotary International’s charity, Rotary Foundation. Given that the funding is charitable, the team are determined to maximise upon their contacts to obtain donations to assist the team in the exchange.

The giving of token gifts is an important aspect of the South Korean culture, and therefore the team have soughts the donation of token gifts to give to the businesses that are kindly hosting team visits to exchange learning with the team members during the exchange.

The organisations that have kindly donated are:-

The teams thanks go to all of the organisations who have donated gifts for the exchange.
